In my personal experience, I have found Gmail to provide the best email experience of any free email clients. I will discuss what I love about it and what bugs me about it.
1. I love Gmail's threaded conversations. Comparing it to my Yahoo! email, if I get a message from, say, Fiverr (a freelance website), Yahoo! counts each message as a new and separate email, so I may have 7 new emails, all from the same message-thread on the Fiverr website. In Gmail, it is categorized into a single "thread", so that I can see that I have one email, and can easily view the order in which they arrived, their date and time, as well as the messages, without cluttering my inbox.
2. I love Gmail's loading speed. It is one of the fastest I have come across. Scratch that: itisthe fastest I have ever used. If it is loading too slowly due to a horrible internet connection, there is an option to load only HTML instead of all the JavaScript - an excellent alternative for slow connections.
3. I like it's contact system, how they are added, managed, grouped, etc. What I do not like is that there is no "Address Book" while composing an email - I must first organize the specific contacts I want into a "group" if there are too many to remember, and then just send to that group. Still, it is an inconvenience I am willing to put up with, because in Gmail's case, the good far outweighs the bad.
4. Google's chat, video messaging, calling and texting services are top-of-the-line. Giving you a [free] actual phone number, Gmail allows users to call phones and send and receive text messages.
5. Google's attachments upload quickly, but do not allow certain types of files, such as compressed folders.
6. There are "widgets" available to customize the look and layout of Gmail. These are fun, especially the "Snake" game.
7. Google Buzz. I know, some people hate it, but I love it. It is great, easy to update, and just all around fun to use.
8. Sending and receiving from other emails through Gmail could not be easier. When sending a message, you can change from sending from your default email using a drop-down menu of any other email accounts you have registered to your Gmail. Simple as that!
Well, those were just a few points I like about Gmail. I hope this helped you learn more about the best email client available!
